Country Superstar Morgan Wallen Forced to Cancel Tour Due to Vocal Rest: What Happened and What's Next?

Morgan Wallen, the country music sensation who is present atop the Billboard charts, has had to cancel a scheduled performance due to a loss of voice. Wallen was scheduled to appear at the University of Mississippi Rebels' Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, after a seven-month globe tour. In a social media statement, he revealed that he had been sleeping, talking to his doctor, and working through vocal exercises to try to recover. His voice, however, was shot, and he was unable to sing.

All ticket holders were provided refunds at the time of purchase. Supporting performers HARDY, ERNEST, and Nate Smith all performed their scheduled sets.

Wallen's next tour stop is on April 27 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. With his most recent record, "One Thing At A Time," which was published in March 2023, he has gained unprecedented popularity. The album's 36 tracks received approximately 500 million on-demand streams, and all 36 songs were charted on the Billboard Hot 100. This surpassed Drake's record for most songs by an artist on the chart at one time, as well as the record for most chart debuts, with 27.

Wallen's vocal rest during his current tour cycle is similar to Adele's, who suffered from laryngitis and vocal hemorrhages during her world tour in 2011. To avoid irreversible harm to her voice, Adele had to miss numerous dates and undergo throat surgery. Wallen's rehabilitation may keep him off the road for a week, forcing him to cancel shows in Grand Rapids, Moline, and Lincoln, but he is scheduled to perform in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 4.
